PM, Chidambaram 'receptive' on AFSPA: Omar

NEW DELHI: Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah on Monday met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and home minister P Chidambaram to discuss the partial withdrawal of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) and said they were "receptive" to this.

"Partial withdrawal was one of the number of issues I discussed with the home minister," Abdullah told reporters, emerging out of the North Block that houses Chidambaram's office.

The chief minister said he was in the process of meeting members of the cabinet committee on security.

"I met the PM, the home minister," he said, adding: "I have made my point clear. This is an ongoing process. The PM and the home minister were receptive."

The chief minister would also be meeting finance minister Pranab Mukherjee later in the day.
