KARACHI: Five more people were killed in separate acts of violence in the city on Wednesday.A man was stabbed to death over a family dispute in Lyari within the vicinity of Kalri police station. Police official said Saleem, 35, son of Abdullah, resident of Hungorabad, Lyari, was killed and his brother Hanif injured inside their home. He said that the incident took place when victim's brother-in-law Abdul Razzak arrived and after quarrel stabbed them over a family dispute. He said the accused had been arrested. The body and injured were shifted to the Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for an autopsy and treatment respectively.In another incident, a man was shot dead in Lines Area within the limits of Brigade police station. Police said Muhammad Sarwar, 52, son of Ghulam Hussain, resident of the same area, was on its way to home when two armed pillion riders shot him multiple bullets, leaving him dead on the spot. The body was moved to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for an autopsy. Police said the victim had no affiliation with any party, however, the motive behind the incident was yet to be ascertained.Separately, a man was killed in Korangi while offering resistance to bandits in a robbery incident within the limits of Korangi police station. Police said Muhammad Sohail, 45, son of Muhammad Aqeel, resident of the same area, was sitting at his mobile shop when two armed men entered it, looted valuables and on resistance, shot him dead. The body was brought to the JPMC for an autopsy.
Meanwhile, police found body of an aged man from Surjani area within the jurisdiction of Surjani police station. The victim was later identified as Sharif, 52, son of Abdul Majeed, a scrap dealer. He was strangled to death. Police were suspecting victim's family members, including wife and son's involvement, in his murder while further investigation was underway. The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for postmortem.
Similarly, the body of a youth was found from SITE area within the limits of SITE B police station. The victim was identified as Bakht Khan, 17, son of Sher Khan. He reached his father's workplace where he was a security guard. "It was yet to be ascertained either the victim committed suicide or died accidentally as he was playing with the gun," the police said.
