Karachi violence claims six more lives


KARACHI : Unabated target killing and violence continued to claim innocent lives in the city as six more people including two robbers were killed and several others injured in fresh spate of target killing in the city on Wednesday. The police arrested 26 accused including two members of religious outfit from different localities of the city and recovered arms from their possession.According to police, 40-year old prayer leader Qari Hassan Naseer was shot dead by the unidentified armed men inside the mosque situated in New Karach. He died before he could be taken to hospital. The assailants managed to flee from the crime scene. The body of deceased was shifted to Abbassi Shaheed Hospital for autopsy.

Tension prevailed in the area after the incident.

In another incident, 55-year old Feroz Khan, security guard of private bank, was gunned down by unidentified armed men when he was on duty at bank branch situated in Boat Basin, Clifton area in the jurisdiction of Boat Basin Police Station.

The assailants managed to escape from the crime scene. The body of deceased was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for postmortem.

28 years old Naveed Bangish s/o Hassan Bangish was also targeted by unidentified armed men in Tariq Road area. The attackers fled from the crime scene. The body was moved to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for medico legal formalities.In Qayyumabad area, armed robbers gunned down a man upon resistance during robbery attempt and fled with the looted valuables. The body was shifted to hospital where identity of the deceased was ascertained as Arshad.

The police recovered dead body of a woman later identified as Zahra from Pipri area.

Bullet riddled and tortured dead body of another unknown person enclosed in gunny bag was recovered from Site locality. Police said that the deceased was shot dead after kidnapping him.

In site Metrowell locality five people were injured when unknown persons attacked a house with crackers. The injured were rushed to hospital for treatment.

Firing incidents continued in the city during which seven persons were reported injured. The injured were rushed to hospital where seven persons were reported injured. The injured were shifted to different hospitals of concerned areas where according to hospital sources condition of several injured people was serious.
