A magnitude five earthquake jolted the Kashmir Valley on Monday night, with the epicentre on the India-China border in Ladakh. But there was no report of damage.
“An earthquake of magnitude 5 on the Richter Scale occurred at 7.29 p.m. [on Monday], with the epicentre on the India-China border in the Ladakh region,” an official of the disaster management cell said.
The epicentre was approximately 496 km northeast of Srinagar. There had so far been no report of any damage, he said.
